Please Listen to me...
I may have found my daughter after 24 years
Submitted by Shirley, South Africa
24 years ago in Bulawayo, when I gave away a beautiful health (8lbs 4oz) dark haired little baby girl. I forced the nurses to let me see her before I left hospital, but they would not let me touch her, so I just stood in the corridor looking at her through a pane of glass, I have never in my life cried like that, even the nurses joined in. I was 18 and my heart had been yanked out of my chest, there is still a bruise there that won't heal.
For the last 24 years I think about her every day, and there are often times when still can't stand the thought that she is out there somewhere I can't find her although I have tried through various agencies. It was only after 10 years that I decided to let the matter rest - I did that out of a feeling of not wanting to disrupt her life... a few years ago I found this web site and posted my details.
It was about 3 weeks ago that Frances contacted me with these opening words on her email "Possible Match". I stopped breathing - but my daughter at this stage does not want to make contact with me, although she is curious as to where I live (so am I curious to know where she lives) - I respect that decision, after all it is a far greater thing she is doing than me... So near, yet so far! I have faith, I have always had faith because what I did I did out of necessity and have since lived a decent and useful life - the universe knows that and will return something to me that I lost a long time ago.
