"Adoption"

To dream and hope of a forever home,
of unconditional love,
to learn to trust and learn to learn,
accept the torn umbilical breach,
can never be one and won again.

And to start a life at eight and a half,
instead of the moment of that first breath,
first cry of joy at being released from mamma`s womb,
only to be rejected to temporary loving arms,
that could never hold on.

So trust was never built,
not in a day,
or a year,
or the years to come.
Then hopes and dreams turn to reality,
a parent, a home, a dog and a life,
but it`s all too much, too soon, too sudden,
thrust upon an unsuspecting boy, who could never believe,
that dreams come true.

Now adding a few years of time, hormones and change,
life explodes into arguments of trust,
limitations of respect,
rebellion of a teenager.

Can unconditional love and time teach trust,
Can the void of initial yearning for touch, a hug and family,
ever be filled and fulfilled.
