Please Listen to me...

My father was a soldier

[Home Page] I live in Johannesburg. I have just turned 22 yrs of age and I am looking for my father as I am sure he is looking for me.

It is an almost impossible mission since I have such a little information on my dad and no surname to go by as my mum passed on before she could give me all the relevant information on my birth. I think my dad has a right to know me as I know he will be proud of me and I personally would like to find him.

The only information I have is that he was English-speaking, named John. He was born in 1940 and served in the Rhodesian Army during the Ian Smith period (1965-1976). He was about 30 yrs old at the time of his service. He had blonde hair and blue-green eyes, was of medium height and very well built. What set him apart was his very Eagle shaped nose (looked as though it had been broken in the middle) and his cleft. This is a sketch of him done by my mother.

He was born in Rhodesia and even whilst in the Army had a bad case of asthma and would constantly use an asthma-pump.

After his service , he left Rhidesia for Johannesburg. He had a flat in Jhb-Hillbrow and drove a green Corolla. He was a Manager at a Company in JHB and up for promotion. His parents had also left Rhodesia and moved to Durban.

My parents met each other at a nightclub in JHB called ''Las Vegas''. It was situated a few streets away from where my mother resided at 247 Jeppe Street, Jhb CBD, Culsahm Court. Her roomate's name was Doris.

My mother's name is Eva and she was a nurse at the Coronationville Hospital at the time. She was 21 yrs old.

To get straight to the point, I am afraid I might be too late in trying to find my dad and am desperate for any help or leads that anyone may have to offer.I love my dad and I know he loves me and I just want to say ''Hello''.
